He began his acting career in the year 1981 and has been a part of over 80 films since then. He could not be a successful lead in Hindi films so he started working in Bangladeshi cinema in 1995 and most of his films in Bangladesh were successful. He returned to Bollywood in 2003 and performed roles as a supporting actor in films like Qayamat, Elaan, Don, Apna Sapna Money Money etc.
