Harshad Mehta’s Net Worth

Harshad Mehta was an Indian stockbroker born on 29 July 1954 in Gujarat, India to a lower-middle-class family. He did his schooling in Raipur, Chhattisgarh and completed his BCom from Lajpat Rai College, Mumbai.

He is well known for being charged with a number of financial crimes and manipulating the stock market in 1992 by drawing funds from banks with worthless bank receipts and using this liquidity to buy huge amounts of shares at a premium across many industry verticals. He was arrested for the same in November 1922 along with his brothers who masterminded and executed the scam together. In the year 2020, Sony Liv showed the full story of Harshad Mehta’s 1992 scam through a web series named “Scam 1992”.

It is said that his net worth was around INR 25-30 Crore (approx.).

The property is located in the Vandana Cooperative Housing Society (CHS), Juhu and measures about 1,150 square feet.

2. Apartment in Madhuli

The Mehta family owned nine apartments in the Madhuli Housing Cooperative Society. Eight out of the nine apartments are up for sale but one of them which belongs to Rasila S Mehta, the stock broker’s mother, is not up for sale. Madhuli was among the most prized possessions of Harshad Mehta and is said to have included a billiards room, a mini theatre and a mini-golf course.

Harshad Mehta died at the age of 47  on 31 December 2001 due to a heart ailment.
